What’s the best part about building your own equipment? Is it choosing the colors? Tweaking the design? Using new materials? Using the same materials in different ways?Or maybe it’s the learning process?
Everybody has their reason and for the guys up in Santa Cruz at TL Surf they like all of the above. They have taken our materials and have used them to build custom surfboards, SUPs, kneeboards and most importantly wave skis. I know what you’re asking, “What’s a wave ski?” You may have seen them around your local line up but if not, it’s a watercraft that you ride sitting down, with your feet strapped in, while using a double ended paddle to help get you into the waves and to navigate. It’s a pretty aggressive sport that these guys really push the limits of. They are not only sitting and shredding but also standing, then sitting, then standing again all while surfing the wave.
They are working on creating a stronger and lighter wave ski that incorporates divinycell, stringerless EPS, carbon fiber, epoxy resin and our vacuum bagging equipment. Hopefully it will inspire you to try something different and fresh. Take a moment to see these guys in action as they dismantle the waves in a different way. All of the materials used can be found at shop.fiberglasshawaii.com.
